Off-Season Update!Joe Cutri February 4, 2010 We're just under 2 months away from our first race of the 2010 Points Season...NEETS 8th year of enduro racing! NEETS Officials will be working hard during the off-season to gear up and fine-tune ourselves before the new season, however, there are a few items that need to be brought to light before the year kicks off. First off, in 2009, we implemented the use of a one-way scanner during the races. This season, they will be mandatory if you plan on qualifying for points!!! When drivers arrive at the speedway, they will be required to bring their scanner with them at registration. At this time, NEETS Officials will be able to determine if the driver has the correct unit, the correct frequency and even if the driver has a scanner. Drivers will be given a "one race grace period" before they will no longer qualify for points. The scanners are in place to provide each and every driver with immediate attention to on-track issues, ranging from all aspects of black flags to red flags. NEETS Officials battled several technical issues in the early portion of the 2009 season with series equipment. The issues have been resolved and should not pose a problem in 2010. Secondly, after the 2009 MUTHA race, NEETS Officials hosted a rules meeting at which nearly 30 NEETS drivers attended! There were many issues discussed regarding safety and technical issues. The new rules for 2010 have been posted onto the website for all to view, the changes made from last season are in GREEN COLORED FONT. Please take note of the changes that have been made...it is the responsibility of the driver to conform to the rules that have been set forth. Ignorance is not an excuse, meaning "I didn't know" does not legalize an illegal part. Know your car, know the rules. Stock parts mean stock from the factory, not the way the car was purchased. 2010 is a points season, meaning a championship is on the line for each division and the Tech Officials will not hesitate to DQ drivers for rule infractions. As it is the beginning of a new season, new driver profile sheets must be filled out by ALL drivers once again...even if no information has changed. Mandatory information must be provided or else the driver will not be awarded points. Such mandatory information includes: correct phone numbers and addresses, car numbers, vehicle information and emergency contacts. If this required information is not provided, the driver will not be awarded points until the proper information is provided to NEETS Officials. No information you provide will be shared/discussed with other drivers, crew or fans. The information is required for insurance purposes and technical inspections. If you provide fake or incorrect information, NEETS Officials reserve the right to remove points from the driver until the correct information has been provided. Driver Profile Sheet Next up, transponders!!! NEETS will be renting out transponders once again, however there will be one stipulation to rent a transponder. Any driver who rents out a unit must bring a valid credit card to the registration booth at the time of registration. Once we have your credit card information on file, we will not need drivers to repeatedly submit credit card information. In 2009, a few drivers left the speedway with rented units...NEETS becomes responsible for replacing the units that are rented from GP Sports Timing out at a rate of $600 per unit not returned. In 2010, once a driver provides credit card information to the series for a rented transponder, they will also be signing an approval for charges to the credit card. If the driver then leaves the speedway without returning the rented unit, the cedit card provided will be charged the full $600 replacement cost. FYI, return the transponder immediately after your race! Next on the agenda is Tech! The tech area for the 2010 events at Grandview Speedway will be located in the infield. Once the first race of the day is complete, the top drivers (to be determined by car counts) will be sent to park their vehicle in the infield. The second race will take place with a similar outcome, the top drivers will park their vehicles in the infield. Tech officials will inspect the veichles that competed in the first race, giving the vehicles that have just completed racing time to cool down. No positions will be paid out until all top cars from that division have been qualified. If there is an issue that arises that cannot be settled at the speedway, the Tech Officials and Series Promoters reserve the right to hold all payouts until the issue has been resolved. Line-ups will be changing a bit as well. In 2009, we stated a penalty would be implemented to any driver who is reluctant to stage during the allotted time. This season, if officials are calling for your group to stage and you are not present, we will not hold the position for you. We need to organize the time between the races to limit down-time. There is a lot of nothing happening between races due to clearing dead cars from the speedway and excessive line up wait time. We will be testing and tuning the between race set up so that we can limit this down time and keep the show moving along for the fans in the stands. Chairity, charity, charity! In 2010, NEETS Officials will be doing all we can to provide each and every event with a charitable sponsor! We have already worked out a few charities for the season; the SPCA for a Pet Food Drive once again as well as Joe Krause, sportscaster for WMGK and host of Krausey's Koats, winter coat collection. We are open to any and all ideas! If you know of a local charity that we can try to help in any way, shape or form...help us get in contact with the organization and we will try to incorporate their organization into our events. Up against the Wall? NEETS Promoter, Joe Cutri, and Wall Stadium Promoter, Jim Morton, are working diligently to put together a fine-tuned asphalt series for 2010. Although, Wall will be running enduros with or without the NEETS Series involvement, we are doing all we can to work out a schedule that will work for everyone without conflict! Lastly, sponsorship! What better time to get involved? NEETS is in the spotlight this season! NEETS was a part of the 25th annual Len Sammon's Motorsports Expo show, turning a few heads along the way with a huge display booth! Next on the agenda is the 25th Reading Fairgrounds Race Legends Reunion & Car Show where Series Promoter, Joe Cutri, will be hosting n "Intro to Enduro Racing" seminar on the stage opening day of the week-long event! Follwed up by the 2nd Annual Coventry Mall car show as well as anotyher car show being organized for the later part of March! NEETS is reaching out to more and more people this season as car counts are expected to be higher than the average enduro counts in the past few years! This is the time for sponsors to get involved as this off-season time provides for EXTRA exposure before the actual season even begins!!! Contact Joe, joe@neetsracing.com, for more information on how to get involved! NEETS! See you soon! Joe Cutri NEETS Series Promoter |
